Lipscomb University, Tennessee, Strategic Planning

I was invited by the Director of Music of Lipscomb University, Brown Bannister, to help with a new strategic planning process in March 2019. A plan was needed fairly urgently, and I traveled over to Nashville for a week to work intensively with Brown and his team. After the visit we worked together online on a very regular basis. It proved to be a fascinating and highly successful process. It was designed to be inclusive in nature so faculty, students and other constituencies such as industry experts were invited to front and centre. The objective was very much to promote buy in and to demonstrate complete transparency. We created a situational analysis which in turn was the basis for the new vision and vision statement; plans for moving from the status quo to the new vision; financial implications and modeling; checks on maintaining alignment within the organization and of course a detailed plan for implementation.

Since the plan was adopted at the end of last year, a huge amount of progress has been made and the School is now enjoying a new direction with Brown as the charismatic and determined leader. During this project Brown wrote about our work together describing me as “a great creative disruptor” which is rather nice! We are currently continuing our association.
